Description

The APP M-57 North Korean Anti-Personnel Mine is a high-explosive (HE), plastic-bodied, anti-personnel (AP), blast landmine that has a minimal metal content.

Design The landmine has a rectangular body with a lid that is hinged longitudinally with the surface of the landmine having a raised cross-hatched pattern. The bottom portion of the landmine houses the main charge and the fuze assembly.
Fuze Assembly The fuze assembly rests on a slotted cross-member near the end opposite of the hinge.
Fuze The fuze is similar to the Russian MUV with detonator assembly and is laid into the base of the landmine body so that the striker runs through the slot in the cross member. The winged-striker retaining pin rests on the wall of the cross member with a plunger resting on the fuze of the body, which is molded into the lid of the landmine.
Charge The main charge is a 250g RDX/TNT demolition block that is held in place with internal retaining tabs.
