Metis-M
Metis-M
The Metis-M is an upgraded version of the proven Metis anti-tank missile designed to destroy well protected heavyweight Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) from standoff ranges. The Metis-M can also engage fortifications and bunkers as well as Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) equipped tanks thanks to its tandem shaped charge warhead. The Metis-M missile can also accommodate a thermo-baric warhead with impressive blast/fragmentation effects. This warhead can engage effectively fighters protected behind buildings and other fortifications. The Metis-M missile has been designed to be fired from confined space such as urban environments. The new missile weighs 13.8 kg (twice than its predecessor) and features a maximum range of 1,500 meters accommodating a more capable warhead. The Metis-M retains the Semi-Automatic Command to Line Of Sight through a wire guidance system, the 16 kg Command Launch Unit (CLU) with thermal sight as well as the capability to be operated by a crew of 2-man. The upgraded Metis-M anti-tank missile was introduced in 1992.
