Description

The PAR 2090C is an X-band (9-9.18 GHz) ground-controlled Precision Approach Radar (PAR) designed for air traffic control, with an instrumented range of 20 nautical miles (40 nmi maximum) and a range resolution of less than 100 meters. It can track over 32 targets, control up to 8 runways, and features a field-of-view of 10 degrees in elevation and ±15 degrees in azimuth, with a beamwidth of 1° in azimuth and 0.6° in elevation. The system, available in two variants, utilizes a high-resolution 21-inch TFT display to present glideslope information in azimuth and elevation, providing accurate detection and target discrimination with excellent clutter rejection in all weather conditions. Its modular, open architecture and use of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) components contribute to reduced maintenance costs and easy growth capabilities. In 2011, SELEX Sistemi Integrati was awarded two contracts worth approximately 31 million Euros for the PAR 2090 CF variant: one from TELEDIFE for a fixed installation at the Italian Air Force's Galatina air base, and another through an international bid to supply five systems to the Swiss Air Force via EADS Cassidian.
