Description
The KTSSM-2 is a solid fuel tactical ballistic missile developed to meet the requirements of the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA) in order to engage North Korea’s long-range artillery. The KTSSM-2 missile has a maximum range of 290 kilometers carrying a 500 kilograms warhead. The missile has been designed to be launched from the K239 multi-barrel rocket artillery system. The development of the new missile is expected in the early 2020s with an entry into service by 2025. The RoKA plans call for the procurement of 200 missiles by 2034. The KTSSM-2 development started in September 2023 and is expected to conclude by December 2027 under a $220 million contract.
